Political decisions change the face of educational systems around the world. This in turn leads to changes in the classroom. Some examples of these decisions are:
- Larger class sizes due to funding issues;
- More differentiated policies on assessessment;
- The introduction of standardized tests;
- Inclusion - students who may have received special services in the past no longer do so to the same extent;
- The introduction of new subjects, such as English.
These issues lead to issues that teachers have perhaps not confronted from their own experiences as learners. Therefore, the principle goal of this website is for student teachers and lecturers around the world to problem-solve on an international level - situations that are new in one country may be the norm in another.
The goals of this website are:
- To connect pre-service teachers from universities of teacher education around the world;
- To provide means for pre-service teachers to gain insight into teaching situations and issues facing their peers around the world and at the same time be able to share what might be a strength in their own country:
- To foster and document problem solving skills through dialogue and sharing;
- To encourage global exchanges which in turn lead to innovation and lifelong connections and possible classroom exchanges;
- To provide opportunities for pre-service teachers to improve their English reading and writing skills while seeing the importance of English as a lingua franca.
